Introductions

I just checked Max’s “lost page” and something had changed. The countdown was gone and the picture had a link attached to it. It leads to a sound file: “introductions.mp3”

A voice introduces himself as Maxwell B Prescott. He claims to be a captive in his own home and needs help. I’m really not sure if he addresses me alone, he doesn’t use my name but just calls me his friend. I’m not his friend! I don’t even know the guy!

He ends his message with a riddle and says it is a very difficult ‘conundrum’

If there was one fool in the court of king Charles the twelfth
What number would he receive from any other king?

Maxwell also mentioned some research should be done. I checked wikipedia for Charles XII and apparently he was a king of Sweden; and, what’s even more interesting, exactly the same picture as on the lost page is on the wikipedia site.

I guess I’m looking for some number, but I don’t understand the fool or court parts… they probably mean or point at something else.

I’ll just keep looking for more info or clues on that wiki site for now…

This is a hard one.
The only things that come to my mind are 0 (the number of the fool in Tarot) and 14 (12 in octal which King Charles may have invented).

Hi - can you all tell me what game you are playing? I really am wondering if it is connected to a different game I am playing, and I came across this site and have spent hours on it. Some of the clues are different but parallel - it seems like too many coincidences. If you are a mathematician I am wondering if you can figure out the number. At the Wikopedia site on King XII it tells about the King inventing some numerical system - and there is a link to the numerical system on the King XII Widopedia page (near the bottom). I just am no good with numbers. Anyone?

What other site are you talking about?
Converting numbers to and from octal is pretty easy, 12=8+4 and so there is 1 eight and a 4, so 12 is 14 in octal. Of course, if is related to the riddle and if so, then what to do with the number are both questions I don't know the answer to.

I am sorry I still don't understand the numbers. I understand that 1 eight and 1 four = 12, but where does the 14 come from?

I'm not sure this site relates to my other game at all because if it did I don't think I would have been the only one to find it. My game stated on June 4th, and I noticed this one did too. I have had only 2 clues so far (and noticed there were 2 clues on the maxprescott site as well) and both my clues kind of go in with what has been said here. I don't like to give to many things away but after solving my 1st Clue, the answer was "I think someone might be watching me."

- As you know from the introduction on the maxprescott website, he mentions being watched in his penthouse so he keeps his curtins closed.

Now today I went to solve my second Clue and it was: "Can I trust you"
-I noticed on the maxprescott website there was a black screen with black text and when read it said it says that he "doesn't know who he can trust" and "some people are out to harm him" Also solving my 2nd clue I watched a video where there was a press conference and it was divulged that my main character was kidnapped and people were out to harm him and he had death threats.
Also today another clue was something about a "Queen". When I went to the /lost page, it was about a "King". So that fits as well. Now I am looking for a number that I need to get into the kidnapped man's website tommorrow and I thought maybe this website had the number or a clue for some other part of the game that is yet to come.

Some other similarites are: one of my main characters is named Max, another character has an Italian last name (remember maxprescott was was born in Italy too) who has left the company and no one knows where he is. MaxPrescott says that he is "captive in his home" and I am trying to find the location of my missing guy.
Now we have this riddle on MaxPrescott that gives a number and I would like to see if it fits in the other contest anywhere. The reasons I don't think the 2 are related is that this one is being hosted on a different server than all my 15 other sites I have found and no one else has found it.

So what do you think, does it sound like coincidences?

Oh, forgot - the clue about the "Queen" today was a couple of numbers
The Queen's birthday celebration in New Zealand and the Queen's birthday celebration in Australia (and everystate except WA). I have found the numbers on wikopedia as well.

d, I don't think this game has anything to do with "save my husband".

Charles also supposedly used letters in place of the numbers. "The numbers 1-7 are there denoted by the consonants l, s, n, m, t, f, u (v) and zero by the vowel o."

stonej,
I should have read the octal page. That sounds right.
The fool would be 6001 in octa which is 3073 in decimal. What would we do with this number though?

According to what stonej posted, the number 3073 would spell the word "noun".

Well, I think I got myself involved in 2 games.

Found another page! But I am still bewildered.
http://www.maxprescott.com/3073/
Read the hidden text again.

Any more ideas?
I tried http://www.maxprescott.com/6001/ (didn't work)
http://www.maxprescott.com/fool/ (didn't work)
http://www.maxprescott.com/noun/
(didn't work).

This might indeed be an answer to a riddle.
However, still not all of the answers
lie were they seem.
The internet is vast.
(on page /3073)

Well nice meeting you all but I think I am going to concentrate on my other game. Hope you all have fun. Just couple of observations before I leave - I noticed the last message had a misspelling in it (intentional or just error?).
The word "were" should be "where".
Also, I noticed the domain registrar is from Arizona and so is Prescott, so maybe this is a game from a Prescott AZ travel agent since the original letters came stamped from Japan and some other country. If there is a trip for a prize maybe I would try a little harder.

Vjails have you come up with anything? I'm stumped.

I thought this pointed to another website, but I've looked for other websites for the last 3 days, nada.

Hi - yes, there was another page - if you didn't notice - I got the new message from

http://www.maxprescott.com/3073/

(3073 was the decimal for 6001 which was the octal for fool)

Just checking in - not working on anything else right now - math is not my strongpoint.

I believe there must be another number to look for which will give another page as this one did.
